For our One Word Film Project, we were assigned a random word and had to create a ~1-minute film describing that word. But, no dialogue was allowed, with only sound effects and editing being used to create the effect of the word.
During brainstorming for the project, my partner and I tried to come up with several ideas for the word "boredom." We ultimately decided on the plot of a girl with no service on her devices, leading to boredom. We used certain shots to convey different meanings about the plot, like a long shot of the character alone to truly portray the sense of boredom and no enjoyment. We used our storyboard to visualize these shots in a well order that is simple, yet gets the point across.
During my editing process, I organized the clips in order. I also utilized coloring to adjust saturation, creating contrast between scenes where the girl is bored and others being shown with enjoyment. I also used sound effects at times.
The editing process went fairly well and was a strong point in my project. It truly captured the feeling of boredom in a creative way. On the other hand, during filming our shots were sometimes repetitive. A greater variety of shots would have added more emotion and understanding to the scene.
