Audio

Hey there blog! I talked about lighting in my last post, and I plan to keep talking about things I'm planning to do when we eventually end up filming. But, today I want to talk about audio! What audio we might use, how, when, etc. Audio can keep an audience engaged, sometimes silent films just don't cut it. Anyway, here's my plan:

Diegetic sound

Our film is mostly going to be composed of raw sound that takes place in the world of the film. For example, the dialogue between our characters is going to take up a good chunk of audio. We'll use microphones to make sure that the dialogue can be heard in good quality.

Other sounds like walking, rustling, and certain movements, will also be diegetic. But, they'll be foley sounds instead. Most of the time small components like these aren't really heard well, so the foley sounds will exaggerate them.

Here's a cool video that might help us out with making our own foley sounds:

We generally don't want any part of our film to be completely silent for too long, so we want to fill it up with audio as much as we can!

Non Diegetic sound

I don't think using music in our film fits the vibe, especially since it's just a film opening. On top of that, we have to worry about copyright and other aspect of the music. So, Marissa gave a really good idea of just using stings!

We thought of using a sting for when Veronica, the vampire is revealed. She turns around and BAM sting audio! Or, when the title is revealed we might use another sting.

We'd find these on a free sound effect/audio website where the audios are copyright and royalty free. Marissa and I are still looking at some options, so we don't have a set answer right now. But, we found these on a website called Freesound! Check it out!

Ill see you guys later with more planning posts, bye for nowwww
